Usually, I share my word for the new year at the beginning of the year but it’s been one of those years, you know? Here we are already half way done with 2021 and I’ve finally MADE THE TIME and found the courage to share my word. I chose this specific word at the end of 2020. In fact, the Lord gave me this word because He knew that I would need to reflect back on it months later.
My word for 2021 is
CONFIDENT.
Believe me, I had some confidence in the first few weeks and maybe even months of 2021 but it slowly died. One of the reasons was because of fear — fear of the unknown, fear of the temporary, fear of just failing. Another was because of schedule and just dealing with adult stuff — nothing bad; in fact, it was a huge blessing that my whole family was trying to adjust to. But you know that feeling when you fall down and just think it would be easier and “more convenient” to stay down rather than getting up? Yeah, that was definitely me.
Don’t get me wrong, I got up but not to pursue what I had already set out to do. I tried new projects and did pretty well but I had to think back on my word for this year — CONFIDENT.
When God gave me this word, He first gave me the Bible verse where this word was from —
Philippians 1:6 – Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
You see, it wasn’t me or any other person starting a work in me. All along it was God. And all along He was right there with me — just waiting for me, waiting for His child to get back up and continue the good work that He started in me and will continue to perform until Jesus returns.
If you haven’t listened to my podcast, I shared on there who God has called me to reach SPECIFICALLY. As Christians, we are to reach the world, but God has burdened me to reach young moms and young wives with the Gospel. And while doing so, I must be careful not to neglect any others He has placed my way. But young moms and young wives have a special place in my heart, mainly because I fall into that category.
There have been many times when I wish I had someone to talk to who could relate to me, my struggles, my successes, my burdens, and my blessings and someone I could trust and be comfortable with, without fear of being judged or looked down upon.
I have overcome the mentality of “Who am I that God would choose me”, thinking that I am not enough. When God saved me, He made me enough and because He lives in me, I am more than enough. I am able and capable because God is the One who called me and began a good work in me.
This is why I can push through the rest of the year with CONFIDENCE, because I know whose I am and I know that if I just reach one young mom or one young wife, whether known or unknowingly, everything would have been worth it.
I am not sure what it is you are needing confidence in but could I encourage you to make sure that God is with you for the journey? He is so faithful. He is so caring and understanding. And when you fail or fall, He will be right there, ready to pick you up. You are more than enough and you are able and capable of doing what God has called you to do because it is He who has called you. Take comfort in that and finish the rest of this year with confidence!
